GozQuiz uses a small amount of browser storage so sign-in, hosting, and the first-run tour work. Analytics stays off until you accept it.

Strictly necessary storage

These are needed to provide the service you ask for. They are not used for advertising.

  • Sign-in session. Firebase Authentication keeps you signed in using browser storage (typically IndexedDB), not a marketing cookie.
  • localStorage. Host-tour completion, a copy of recent game history on this device, and the last room code you hosted. In demo mode, a local profile.
  • sessionStorage. The in-progress host tour, host-room drafts, and the page to return to after sign-in.

Analytics cookies

Analytics is off until you choose Accept, or turn Analytics on in Cookie settings. Until then the site does not load Google Analytics and does not set analytics cookies.

If you accept, and a Google Analytics measurement ID is configured, the site loads Google Analytics 4 through gtag. Before that script runs, Google Consent Mode v2 is set to denied for analytics and advertising storage. Analytics storage is then switched to granted. Google may set cookies such as _ga and _ga_* to recognise a browser and count page views. Advertising storage stays denied. We do not use advertising or social-media pixels.

Reject, or turn Analytics off and save, keeps those cookies from being set. If they were already set, the site asks the browser to delete _ga, _ga_*, _gid, and _gat. Your choice is stored in localStorage under an essential key so we remember it. Sign-in, room drafts, and the host tour do not wait for this choice.

The banner is hidden on the TV display, the presenter screen, and in a live room so it does not cover the join QR or the game controls. Change the choice from Cookie settings in the footer, or here.

How to clear storage

Use your browser’s site settings to clear cookies and site data for gozquiz.com. Clearing site data signs you out on that device and removes the on-device tour flag, the cookie choice, and local game history. It does not delete your account. To delete the account, open Profile and use Delete account. What that removes, and what is kept, is explained in the Privacy Policy.
